Terenure College is a Catholic secondary school located in Terenure, Dublin, Ireland. Founded in 1860, the institution operates under the trusteeship of the Irish Province of Carmelites and has a long-standing tradition of education, character development and extracurricular participation. The school provides post-primary education for boys and combines academic learning with sporting, cultural and personal development opportunities. Its educational approach emphasises academic achievement, personal responsibility, respect, community involvement and the development of students into well-rounded individuals. Sport is a significant part of student life at Terenure College, with opportunities for pupils to participate at different levels of ability and experience. The school offers a wide range of sporting activities, including rugby, Gaelic football, hurling, soccer, cricket, athletics, swimming, basketball, tennis, badminton, golf and table tennis. Its sporting facilities include multiple rugby pitches, an all-weather 4G pitch, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, tennis courts, badminton courts, athletic facilities and indoor cricket nets. The college's rugby tradition is closely associated with Terenure College Rugby Football Club, a separate community-based club founded in 1940. Although the school and the rugby club share a historical connection and sporting identity, they are distinct organisations. Terenure College RFC provides senior, junior, youth, mini and women's rugby opportunities, while the school focuses on education and school-based sporting programmes. The college's emphasis on participation encourages students to develop teamwork, discipline, resilience, leadership and respect for opponents. Through its academic departments, extracurricular activities and sporting programmes, the institution seeks to create an environment in which students can discover their interests and develop their abilities. Its long history and continued commitment to education and sport have made Terenure College an established part of Dublin's educational community.
