Tanjong Pagar United Football Club, commonly known as Tanjong Pagar United or TPUFC, is a professional football club based in Singapore. Founded on 15 April 1974 as Tiong Bahru Constituency Sports Club, the organisation has a history spanning more than five decades in Singapore football. The club later became known as Tiong Bahru United before adopting the Tanjong Pagar United identity. It is popularly nicknamed “The Jaguars” and has also been associated with the nickname “The Black Panthers”. The club competes in the Singapore Premier League, the country's top professional football competition. Its home matches have been associated with Queenstown Stadium and, in recent seasons, other venues including Jurong East Stadium. Tanjong Pagar United experienced a successful period in Singapore football during the 1980s and 1990s. Its historical achievements include President's Cup victories in 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1994, National Football League Division One titles in 1983 and 1987, and the Singapore FA Cup in 1998. The club has also experienced periods of financial difficulty that led to temporary withdrawals from top-level competition, including dormancy in 2004 and 2014. It subsequently returned to the Singapore Premier League, demonstrating its continued commitment to maintaining a presence in the country's professional football structure. The organisation operates a senior men's team and youth development programmes through its Centre of Excellence, with age-group teams providing opportunities for young players to develop their football skills. Its football operations involve coaching, player recruitment, technical management, sports training and matchday activities. The club also engages with supporters, sponsors and the local community through membership programmes, partnerships and football-related activities. Tanjong Pagar United is registered as a society in Singapore under the Registry of Societies. Its official website provides information about the club's history, first team, youth programmes, fixtures, results, membership and commercial partnerships. With its long-standing roots in local football, historic cup achievements and continued participation in the Singapore Premier League, Tanjong Pagar United remains an established part of Singapore's football landscape.
