The Federación Panameña de Fútbol (FPF), also known as the Panamanian Football Federation, is the national governing body responsible for organising, regulating and developing football in Panama. Founded in 1937 and affiliated with FIFA in 1938, the federation oversees the administration and development of the sport throughout the country. Its responsibilities cover national teams, professional football, amateur football, coaching development, refereeing, registration, statistics, commercial activities and the administration of football competitions. The FPF works to establish standards and structures that support football participation and competitive performance across different levels of the game. As a member of FIFA, CONCACAF and UNCAF, it represents Panama within international football and coordinates the country's participation in regional and global competitions. The federation oversees Panama's men's and women's national teams, youth representative teams and other national football programmes. The senior men's national team, known as Los Canaleros, has become increasingly prominent in regional football and qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 2018. The federation also supports women's football, youth competitions, grassroots participation and initiatives designed to broaden access to the sport. Technical development is an important part of its work, including coach education, referee training, player development and the improvement of football infrastructure. The FPF collaborates with domestic leagues, clubs, regional associations, schools and other stakeholders to strengthen the national football ecosystem. Its organisational departments include national teams, professional and amateur football, development, refereeing, communications, finance, legal affairs and player registration. The federation is headquartered at the Edificio FPF within Ciudad Deportiva Irving Saladino in Juan Díaz, Panama City. In addition to its sporting responsibilities, it undertakes commercial partnerships, communications and integrity initiatives intended to strengthen the administration and public profile of Panamanian football. Through national-team management, competition organisation, technical education and grassroots development, the Federación Panameña de Fútbol plays a central role in shaping the present and future of football in Panama.
