About Us

Northland Football Club, commonly known as Northland FC, is a regional football club based in Whangārei, Northland, New Zealand. Established in 2004 as North Force AFC, the organisation was initially formed through a partnership between Kamo Football Club and Tikipunga Football Club. Its purpose was to create a representative football pathway for players from the Northland region, enabling them to compete at higher levels of the game. In 2016, the organisation adopted the name Northland Football Club to better represent the wider region and its football community. Northland FC serves as a representative football organisation for Te Tai Tokerau, supporting player and coach development across junior, youth and senior football. It works with member clubs throughout Northland to strengthen local football and provide development opportunities for talented players. Its activities include representative teams, youth development programmes, coaching initiatives and football skills programmes. The club operates the McDonald's Northland Skills Centres in locations including Whangārei, Kerikeri and Mangawhai. These programmes provide additional football training for young players, particularly those aged between nine and twelve, and complement their participation in local junior clubs. Northland FC also provides development pathways for older youth players and senior footballers, with programmes designed to help players progress towards higher levels of competition. The organisation supports both men's and women's football and works to expand participation and development opportunities across the region. Its philosophy emphasises creating positive, safe and enjoyable learning environments in which players can develop their skills and passion for football. Northland FC collaborates with local football clubs, schools, coaches, volunteers, families and regional sporting organisations. Through these partnerships, it aims to improve coaching standards, strengthen player pathways and establish Northland as a recognised footballing destination in New Zealand. The club's work extends beyond competitive football to include grassroots participation, regional representation and long-term football development.
