Motherwell Football Club is a professional Scottish football club based in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. Founded on 17 May 1886 through the merger of Alpha FC and Glencairn, the club has a long history in Scottish football and currently competes in the Scottish Premiership. Motherwell plays its home matches at Fir Park Stadium, which has been the club's home for more than a century. The club has won the Scottish top-flight championship, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup, and has represented Scotland in European competitions including the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League. Motherwell became the first top-flight fan-owned club in Britain in 2016, with supporters owning the club through The Well Society.
