Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club, commonly known as Inverness CT or ICTFC, is a professional football club based in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Established in 1994 following the merger of Inverness Thistle and Caledonian FC, the club was formed to represent the city and surrounding Highland region in senior Scottish football. It has developed a distinctive identity built around its local roots, competitive ambition and strong community connections. The club's traditional colours are red and blue, and its supporters commonly refer to it as “Caley Thistle.” Inverness CT plays its home matches at Sarens PSG Stadium, situated on Stadium Road in Inverness. The club has enjoyed a number of notable achievements in Scottish football, including winning the Scottish Cup in 2014 after defeating Falkirk in the final. That triumph secured qualification for European competition and remains one of the most significant moments in the club's history. Inverness CT has also won the Scottish Championship and the Scottish Challenge Cup, and it has competed in the Scottish Premiership, the country's highest professional division. The club is recognised for its ability to compete against larger and more established opponents, including memorable cup performances against leading Scottish teams. Alongside its senior men's team, Inverness CT operates a youth academy and player development pathway intended to identify and nurture footballing talent from the Highlands. Its wider activities include community football, walking football, memory football and initiatives that encourage participation among people of different ages and abilities. The club has also developed partnerships with educational institutions and regional organisations to strengthen local opportunities and support community development. Its operations encompass coaching, recruitment, performance analysis, medical support, administration, commercial partnerships, communications, ticketing and supporter engagement. Inverness CT has cultivated a loyal fan base across the Highlands, with matchdays serving as an important gathering point for supporters and the wider community. The club has also faced financial challenges, including entering administration in October 2024, before being taken out of administration in 2025 following a change in ownership and restructuring. It continues to pursue sporting progress while rebuilding its financial foundations and maintaining its regional identity. With a proud history, strong local connections and ambitions for the future, Inverness Caledonian Thistle remains an important institution in Scottish football.
