    About Us

Guam Football Association (GFA) is the governing body for association football in the United States territory of Guam. Founded in 1975 by a group of football enthusiasts seeking to establish organised recreational football on the island, GFA has developed into the principal organisation responsible for football administration, competitions, player development, coaching, refereeing and national-team programmes in Guam. The association is a nonprofit, non-stock organisation established under Guam law for charitable, educational and amateur-sports purposes. GFA became a member of the Asian Football Confederation in 1992, joined FIFA in 1996 and became a member of the East Asian Football Federation in 2002. The association oversees football at multiple levels, ranging from grassroots participation and youth development to adult competitions and international representative football. Its programmes cover numerous age groups, including U6, U8, U11, U14 and U17, alongside all-girls programmes, open-age and masters football. GFA is also responsible for the Matao, Guam's men's national team, and the Masakåda, the women's national team. The association operates the GFA National Training Center, which provides facilities for national teams, domestic competitions, grassroots activities, coaching education and player development. Youth development is an important part of GFA's activities, with thousands of young players participating in football programmes across Guam. The organisation also supports coach education, referee development, goalkeeper development, football-in-schools initiatives and community programmes designed to expand participation. GFA administers domestic leagues involving member clubs and organises competitions for both male and female players. Its broader development strategy aims to create pathways from grassroots football toward elite and international competition while strengthening the overall football infrastructure on the island. The association also works with FIFA, AFC, EAFF, the Guam national government, schools, clubs and community organisations to develop football opportunities throughout Guam. In addition to sporting administration, GFA promotes football as a vehicle for education, community participation and personal development. Today, Guam Football Association serves as the central governing and development organisation for football in Guam, combining national-team management, grassroots football, youth development, domestic competitions, coach and referee education, facilities management and community engagement within one island-wide football structure.
