Glasgow City FC is a women's football club based in Glasgow, Scotland, founded in 1998 by Laura Montgomery and Carol-Anne Stewart. The club was established to create greater opportunities for women and girls in football and has developed into an independent women's football organisation. Glasgow City competes in the ScottishPower Women's Premier League (SWPL), Scotland's top level of women's domestic football. The club is based at Petershill Park in Glasgow and has remained there since returning to the venue in 2017. LinkedIn Glasgow City has a substantial history in Scottish women's football. It was one of the 12 founding members of the Scottish Women's Premier League in 2002 and subsequently built a highly successful domestic record. Between 2007 and 2015, the club won nine consecutive league championships, while its historic achievements also include reaching the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finals in 2015 and again in 2019/20. The club secured its 16th SWPL title in 2023. Glasgow City FC Beyond its senior team, Glasgow City operates a youth-development pathway through Glasgow City Academy, with teams beginning at Under-7 level. The club states that its academy currently has more than 150 players. In 2015, Glasgow City Foundation was established as the club's charitable arm, using football to support the physical and mental wellbeing, active citizenship and inclusion of women and girls.
