Girona Futbol Club, commonly known as Girona FC, is a professional football club based in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. The club was founded on 23 July 1930 at the Norat Café on La Rambla in Girona, emerging after the disappearance of Unió Deportiva Gerona. Girona FC quickly established itself within Catalan football and won promotion during its first season. Over the following decades, the club competed across different levels of the Spanish football pyramid before reaching a sustained period of growth in the modern era. 

Girona FC's home ground is Estadi Montilivi, located on Avinguda Montilivi in Girona. The club's registered office is also at Avinguda Montilivi, 141, 17003 Girona, where Girona Fútbol Club S.A.D. is registered. The organisation operates professional men's football alongside women's football and an extensive youth-development structure. Its training infrastructure has expanded significantly, including the Girona Football Academy by PUMA in Vilablareix, which the club identifies as its first dedicated training ground. 

The club achieved its first promotion to LaLiga in 2017. After establishing itself in Spain's top division, Girona reached a historic sporting milestone by qualifying for the UEFA Champions League following its 2023/24 LaLiga campaign. The club subsequently made its European debut in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, including a match against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes and its first European goal against Feyenoord. Girona also secured LaLiga survival in May 2025, completing four consecutive seasons in Spain's top division at that point. 

Girona FC has developed a strong emphasis on football methodology, youth development and international expansion. Its academy structure aims to transmit the club's sporting philosophy to players across different age groups, while partnerships and international programmes have expanded the Girona FC development model beyond Catalonia. In 2026, the club announced an international football-development programme for North American players, including a pathway into a new Girona FC C team. 
