Football Queensland (FQ) is the governing body for association football (soccer) and futsal in Queensland, Australia. It is recognised by the Australian Sports Commission, the Queensland and Australian Governments, and Football Australia as the governing body for football and futsal across the state. Football Queensland traces its history to 1884 and today represents more than 300,000 participants and 308 clubs throughout Queensland. Its responsibilities include competition management, football governance, club and game development, and high-performance development for players, coaches and match officials. The organisation operates a statewide structure consisting of nine regional offices covering the major geographical areas of Queensland: Central, Darling Downs, Far North & Gulf, Metro North & South, Northern, South Coast, Sunshine Coast, Whitsunday Coast and Wide Bay. These regional offices were established in 2021 as part of the Future of Football 2020+ reforms. Football Queensland also administers structured competitions and development programmes, including the FQ Academy, Q-League and various statewide and regional competitions. Its FQ Academy provides player-development pathways and technical programmes, while Q-League provides an inclusive competition pathway for multicultural communities and players. The organisation's current strategic work covers areas including club development, women and girls' football, refereeing, infrastructure and game development.
