FC Madras is a youth football club and academy based in the Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu, near Mahabalipuram and Chennai, India. Established in 2018, the organisation focuses on grassroots football, elite youth development, and the integration of sports with education and life skills. Its motto, “Football Is Our Passion, Madras Is Our Emotion,” reflects its connection with the region and its ambition to develop young Indian footballers.
The academy provides structured football coaching and high-performance training through residential and non-residential programmes. Its development pathways include age-group teams and programmes for young players, including U13, U15 and U17 academy groups, alongside introductory opportunities for younger participants. FC Madras teams compete in recognised youth competitions organised under the Indian football system, including AIFF youth leagues.
A defining feature of FC Madras is its emphasis on combining football training with academic education. The academy uses a sports-integrated educational model, including the National Institute of Open Schooling curriculum, to help players continue their studies alongside intensive training. Its programmes are designed to develop technical ability, tactical understanding, physical fitness, strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental wellbeing, discipline, teamwork and resilience. Scholarship opportunities support selected talented players through its elite development programme.
FC Madras has invested in training infrastructure and a residential sports campus near Mahabalipuram. Its facilities support football coaching, athletic preparation, education and recreational activities. The club also engages with schools, universities, corporate organisations and other football institutions through partnerships, events, tournaments and development initiatives. These activities provide additional opportunities for young athletes to gain match experience and participate in a broader sporting environment.
The organisation’s wider team includes coaches, technical leadership, scouting and football development personnel, performance specialists, academic staff, wellbeing coordinators and administrative professionals. This multidisciplinary approach reflects its stated aim of developing well-rounded individuals as well as capable footballers.
FC Madras positions itself as a long-term football development institution rather than simply a recreational coaching centre. Through youth competition, structured training, educational support, scholarships and partnerships, it aims to strengthen grassroots football and create pathways for talented players to progress towards higher levels of the game in India and beyond.
