The Danish Football Union, officially known as Dansk Boldspil-Union (DBU), is the national governing body for football in Denmark. Established in 1889, it is responsible for organising, regulating and developing football throughout the country. DBU is one of the oldest football associations in Europe and represents Danish football at international level through its membership of FIFA and UEFA. Its headquarters, known as the House of Football, are located at DBU Allé 1 in Brøndby, Denmark. DBU oversees the organisation and administration of football competitions, national teams, refereeing, coaching education and grassroots football development. It is responsible for the Danish men's and women's national football teams, as well as various youth national teams representing Denmark in international competitions. The association also manages and supports national football structures, including youth competitions, amateur leagues, women's football, futsal and other recognised forms of the sport. A significant part of DBU's work involves developing football participation across all age groups and skill levels. It collaborates with regional football associations, local clubs, schools, coaches, referees, volunteers and other sporting organisations to strengthen the football infrastructure throughout Denmark. The association provides educational programmes and certification pathways for coaches and referees, including training aligned with UEFA standards. DBU also works on talent identification and development, supporting young players through national development programmes and youth teams. In addition to its sporting responsibilities, the organisation promotes inclusion, diversity, safeguarding, sustainability and social responsibility within Danish football. It develops initiatives intended to make football accessible to people from different backgrounds and to encourage participation in local communities. DBU represents Denmark in international football governance and maintains relationships with FIFA, UEFA and other national football associations. Its responsibilities include implementing international football regulations, supporting national team participation and contributing to the development of the game at European and global levels. Through its administrative structure, regional associations and partnerships with football clubs, DBU plays a central role in the organisation and long-term development of football in Denmark.
