Job Description

Job Title:

Sports Tutor and Football Coach

Department:

Community- Education

Site:

Education Hub, Hillsborough Stadium

Working Hours:

Permanent – 37hours

Monday – Friday 8:30am-4:30pm

Evening and weekend work rarely

Can be flexible for a term-time only contract

Salary:

£ 27,437

Position in the Organisation

Reports to:

Post 16 Coordinator

Responsible for:

Delivering quality sports lessons to post 16 students.

Purpose of Job

To contribute effectively to the successful learning experiences of students in the SWFCCP through effective teaching that meets or exceeds education standards and results in high levels of student retention and achievement.

Description – Task Related

Key Responsibilities

  • To teach effectively on a range of courses and programmes whilst ensuring the programmes delivered by the organisation meet the relevant curriculum.
  • To assist/ be responsible for identified units of study and where appropriate undertake lead tutor responsibilities for a named group of learners.
  • To plan, teach and assess in line with the Qualification and Ofsted standards.
  • To create Schemes of work, in line with the appropriate specification and funding requirements
  • Ensure an engaging and motivating learning experience for students through successful teaching and personal tutoring. These should be to the standard of funders and Ofsted
  • To make a significant contribution to curriculum development and course co-ordination
  • To deliver ‘Good’ rated lessons and above
  • To offer students a high-quality learning experience to achieve the goal or qualification for which they are studying.
  • To deliver high-quality football training sessions.
  • To coach an education football team, attending training sessions and matchday activities and holding responsibility for this team.
  • Liaise with; teachers, administrators, support staff, parents, external staff and students.
  • Monitor students’ overall attendance across the programme and complete registers as appropriate.
  • To attend all staff and standardisation meetings, and other meetings, as required.
  • Deliver parents evenings, ensuring you report on each student’s development for parent feedback purposes within an education and football setting.
  • To represent the programme and SWFCCP professionally at recruitment events.
  • To maintain own CPD to enhance the organisation.
  • Work positively and collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that students have the best opportunity to flourish and succeed
  • Keep up to date with qualification frameworks, subject specifications, assessment procedures within your subject area
  • To carry out all duties and responsibilities with due regard to Equal Opportunity Policies and Health and Safety policies
  • To work cooperatively with the Education Manager and colleagues to achieve objectives
  • To complete all relevant paperwork records, filing and storing information as appropriate and compliant with GDPR.
  • Conduct work in a manner which is satisfactory to internal and external quality assurance processes.
  • To work across the Community Programme where appropriate.
  • Maintain and uphold customers safety and welfare.
  • To support Equality Diversity & Inclusion practices and procedures in-line with the SWFC EDI action plan.
  • To promote and adhere to safeguarding practices and policies, ensuring that any concerns are logged safely, securely and escalated through the CPOMS System, when necessary.
  • To ensure all requests from the club are managed.
  • To maintain own Continuous Professional Development.
  • To always represent the organisation in a professional manner.

Skills, Experience, Personal Attributes & Qualifications

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Minimum Grade 4/C in maths and English
  • Degree in Sport
  • Teaching qualification e.g. PGCE, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training
  • FA Level 2 or Above

Desirable

  • Basic First Aid Training or willingness to undertake.
  • Safeguarding Certificate
  • UEFA B licence or above

Skills and Experience:

  • Teaching experience of post-16 and adults
  • Teaching experience in Sport
  • Understanding of every Child Matters
  • Completing schemes of work and lesson plans
  • Assessing learning using a range of methods
  • Experience in quality assurance procedures including internal verification.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
