This is a hands-on, content-driven role where creativity meets execution. You will be the driving force behind our social output, shaping and delivering standout content that engages fans and tells our story. Driving awareness and consideration are key as the Club grows - as is driving lower-funnel conversion, be that registrations, ticket sales or engagement with commercial partner content and products.
You will manage a small team of content creators encompassing club photographer, social producer and, as required, freelance resource. You will play a key role in managing and executing our social strategy while helping to refine and evolve it – all while reflecting the energy, ambition, and authenticity of Salford City FC.
The Role
- Responsible for the execution of our content strategy including the delivery of the Club’s social media plan as directed by the Club’s leadership.
- Manage the end-to-end production of social content: content capture, editing, posting, and scheduling.
- Manage a small content creation / social media team and oversee the management of their time – including rotas, balancing work out of hours and time off in lieu
- Capture real-time content on match days, training, and behind-the-scenes settings.
- Ensure all output drives traffic and audience growth towards YouTube as the club’s premium content channel.
- Responsible for all content creation and publishing which includes:
- Producing short-form, engaging content across TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts – and emerging platforms as needed
- Publishing long-form content in collaboration with the Club’s video production unit.
- Editing content to fit platform-specific styles and trends.
- Responsible for community growth and engagement through actively engaging with fans online, managing day-to-day interactions and building loyalty.
- Execute content that activates sponsorships, partners, and commercial campaigns.
- Collaborate with the marketing and commercial teams to ensure social media output supports ticketing, merchandise, and hospitality sales.
- Be proactive in spotting opportunities for live and reactive content and bring fresh ideas to how we present football moments and behind-the-scenes access.
- Keep across new formats and trends to ensure Salford City maintains a strong digital presence.
- Leverage platforms such a TikTok to ensure Salford City is part of the cultural conversation
- Track performance analytics and feed back into the Chief Business Officer for reporting.
- Ensure delivery aligns with the wider Club objectives.
The Person
- Proven experience in executing social media output within football, sport, or entertainment.
- Skilled in video production, editing, and platform-specific storytelling.
- Ability to be creative in finding ways to engage the fan community through creation of a unique, funny, passionate and honest tone of voice.
- Strong understanding of TikTok videos, Instagram reels and YouTube shorts – including how to leverage native tools, tap into trends, and leverage platform insights to further storytelling capabilities.
- Experience managing a team is desirable but not essential
We’re looking for a creative, curious and collaborative individual who thrives in fast-paced, high-access environments and brings energy, initiative, and emotional intelligence to every moment.
You’ll be hands-on, highly adaptable and comfortable capturing content in dressing rooms, on the training ground, and during live matchday action, while staying attuned to the tone and timing that make great social storytelling. Creative thinking around ways to elevate club content for social channels is a must.
You’ll think strategically and act swiftly, with a sharp eye for elevating content and an excellent understanding of how social media drives fan engagement, brand visibility, and commercial impact.
Working closely with colleagues across content, marketing, football and commercial teams, you’ll approach every challenge with a solutions-focused mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Success in this role means showing up with creativity, consistency, and care by delivering high-quality output, growing our digital community, and helping Salford City FC stand out as one of the most open and innovative clubs in the game. This includes rapid growth in followers, subscribers, and engagement as well as seamlessly integrating commercial campaigns into social media.
This role requires a degree of flexibility, with evening and weekend work expected to support matchdays and content production. We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable adapting to the rhythm of the football calendar and thrives in dynamic environments. Your commitment to delivering exceptional online experiences will sometimes extend beyond standard office hours, and we’ll ensure you’re supported to do so in a way that’s balanced and rewarding.
You will need a full, clean driving licence for the role and the ability to travel when needed.
