Description

We are seeking an experienced Head of Methodology to lead the development and delivery of a consistent playing model across the youth programme, from U9 to U21.

Reporting to the Technical Director for Youth Teams, you will help define how the teams play and ensure that the model is understood and applied by coaches across every age group. You will work closely with coaching, performance and goalkeeping staff to support the development of players and coaches throughout the programme.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain the playing model across all age groups, from U9 to U21.
  • Establish a clear football identity based on attacking play, a high press, winning the ball high, short passing, tempo and progression through the thirds.
  • Define coaching principles for all four phases of play.
  • Translate the playing model into weekly themes, adapting delivery to each age group while maintaining consistent principles.
  • Support coach development through meetings, on-pitch sessions and video analysis.
  • Develop the position-specific curriculum and framework for Individual Development Plans.
  • Maintain a video library that provides a shared reference for coaches across the programme.
  • Observe training and matches, assess alignment with the playing model and report findings to the Technical Director.
  • Ensure performance and goalkeeping work supports the overall game model.
  • Define the playing qualities and behaviours that should inform player scouting.

Candidate profile

  • Proven experience in coach development, football methodology or academy coaching.
  • Strong understanding of youth player development across different age groups.
  • Clear knowledge of playing principles across all four phases of the game.
  • Experience creating coaching curricula, individual development frameworks and learning resources.
  • Confident delivering coach education through practical sessions, meetings and video.
  • Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively with technical, coaching and performance staff.

Package

  • Monthly net salary of approximately US$7,000–9,000, with potential for further discussion based on experience.
