Job Title: 2 x Foundation Phase Coaches
Reporting to: Head of Coach Development / Lead Foundation Phase Coach
Contract: Part-Time / Casual
Hours of work: 3 Training Sessions and 1 Game per week
Location: Meadow Lane Stadium and Training Venues
An opportunity has arisen for two Foundation Phase Coaches to join our innovative and growing Category 3 Academy. Our coaches will deliver the coaching programme within team environments in line with the Game Model. A Foundation Phase Coach will ensure that when sessions and/or games are focused on team-based development (Game Model reflective, larger group sessions, game preparation and/or appropriate games), they take the initiative to plan, frame, deliver and reflect in accordance with the Coaching Strategy, including clear collaboration with an ILP Coach. The successful candidates will be motivated and energised by working with Foundation Phase players (ages 8 to 12), understand an age and stage appropriate team environment and show a desire to progress within an ever-growing high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the delivery of the Academy’s Game Model in an age and stage appropriate manner within the Foundation Phase. o To ensure that all sessions are planned, framed, delivered and evaluated according to our Game Model, Coaching Philosophy and Periodisation o To ensure the delivery of the specific language across the development pathway is aligned with the Game Model at all times o To embed our Core Values within the delivery of all aspects of the Academy programme for the players to develop their understanding o To ensure that each player can consistently experience a wide variety of scenarios on the pitch through careful planning in training and games, allowing them to develop adaptability in any game situation in collaboration with an ILP Coach o To support the delivery of the age and stage appropriate analysis provision on a team basis in collaboration with the analysis team
- There will be key administrative tasks involved within the role, meeting all required criteria of the EPPP. o To have a good knowledge of all Youth Development Rules that affect the Foundation Phase o To keep accurate records of anything relevant to the adherence to Youth Development Rules
- To support the Lead Phase Coach to update the Football Intelligence Platform and ensure all players’ written multidisciplinary team reviews, session and game evaluations are completed. o To ensure that all players have access to their relevant data for sessions and fixtures, as well as being able to reference the teams’ Game Model objectives within sessions and matches o To give supportive and critical feedback to players on a regular basis in accordance with Youth Development Rules, both written and in-person o To ensure that all players receive their multidisciplinary reviews at the prescribed time within the yearly Academy plan and that they are accurately reflective of each individual’s team-based performance
- Be responsible for conducting players’ in-person multidisciplinary reviews to aid feedback and support in the ongoing retention of players in the programme. o To ensure that all players have access to their multidisciplinary reviews through the Football Intelligence Platform or any other Club system as a point of reference for their learning in all sessions, games and at home o To ensure that the team-based elements of the signposting process are completed at the prescribed time within the yearly Academy plan and that they are accurately reflective of each individual’s team-based potential
- To be a key liaison for all Academy families, supporting the Player Care Officer and Head of Education and Welfare in our holistic approach to player development. o Supporting the “Who am I?” and aftercare programmes for all players within the Phase o Supporting Life Skills and any other initiatives driven by the Player Care Team
- To take an active role in the safeguarding of all Academy players. o Monitor potential safeguarding children risks and work with the Academy Safeguarding Officer to promote safer working practice throughout the Academy o Understand the Academy Safeguarding policy, procedures and best practice guidelines o Use this understanding to ensure safer recruitment, safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an anti-bullying environment o To be fully responsible for the safety and welfare of all players under your care.
Knowledge and Experience
- UEFA B Licence (essential)
- The FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) (essential – or personal commitment to complete the award)
- Has completed the FA Safeguarding Children (essential)
- Valid FA DBS or willing to undertake a DBS check before starting the role (essential)
