Boy's Academy | Voluntary Role
Birmingham City Football Club is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable and committed individual to join our Academy Recruitment team as an Assistant Local Academy Scout. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in identifying and supporting the next generation of football talent within our local recruitment area.
Working within our Academy scouting network, you will attend grassroots fixtures, school matches, tournaments and talent development environments to identify players with the potential to progress through the Academy pathway.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and assess talented young players across priority age groups.
- Attend grassroots fixtures, school games, tournaments and football festivals.
- Produce detailed and objective player reports using the club's scouting systems.
- Contribute to recruitment discussions and player review meetings.
- Build positive relationships with grassroots clubs, schools, coaches and football organisations.
- Act as a professional ambassador for Birmingham City FC Academy within the local football community.
About You
Essential Requirements
- FA Level 1 Talent ID qualification.
- A valid driving licence.
- Strong player assessment and talent identification skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- High levels of organisation and attention to detail.
- A good understanding of youth player development and academy football.
- Knowledge of the local football landscape and talent pathways.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a wider scouting network.
Desirable Requirements
- FA Level 2 Talent ID qualification.
- Previous experience in scouting, talent identification, coaching or player recruitment.
- Experience within a professional football club or Category One Academy environment.
- Knowledge of the EPPP framework and Youth Development Rules.
- Experience using scouting and player reporting platforms.
