At Jobs4Football, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Augusto Pons as the First Team Senior Performance Analyst at Al Qadsiah FC, a club rapidly making its intent clear after being promoted to the Saudi Pro League. Augusto’s addition to the team is a testament to Al Qadsiah’s ambition, and Jobs4football are proud to have facilitated this important time sensitive hire, ensuring that the club continues to build on its recent successes both on and off the pitch.

Al Qadsiah FC has been on an upward trajectory, recently securing their place in the Saudi Pro League and making headlines with high-profile signings like Spanish international Nacho, Uruguayan star Nathaniel Nandez, and prolific striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. These signings signal the club’s intent to compete at the highest level, but Al Qadsiah’s vision extends beyond just assembling a formidable first team. They are equally focused on developing a robust infrastructure behind the scenes, which is where Augusto’s role becomes pivota within the analysis department.

With over 12 years of experience in professional football and a FIFA Pro coaching Licence via Conmebol, Augusto Pons brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Al Qadsiah. His career has seen him thrive in various football cultures around the world, including two years with the City Football Group, where he honed his performance analysis skills in a "Best in Class" environment. Growing up in Uruguay, a country where football is ingrained in everyday life, Augusto developed a deep understanding of the game’s nuances. This cultural foundation, combined with his renowned Uruguayan work ethic, has made him a standout professional in the field of performance analysis. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Augusto is perfectly equipped to bridge cultural and linguistic divides within the increasingly diverse environment at Al Qadsiah, connecting seamlessly with Latin players and staff.

The recruitment process that brought Augusto to Al Qadsiah was as meticulous as it was competitive. At Jobs4Football, we managed an end-to-end process that attracted over 125 applications from 28 different countries. Each candidate offered something unique, but through rigorous screening and an in-depth selection process, our consultants were able to identify and deliver a shortlist of top candidates. Augusto emerged as the ideal choice, thanks to his engaging mentality, advanced skills in Hudl Sportscode, scripting, and output windows, as well as his expertise in platforms like Insights and Wyscout. His ability to pilot drones for live tagging during training and matches adds a cutting-edge element to his analysis, ensuring that Al Qadsiah has the best possible insights to inform their tactical and strategic decisions.

Augusto’s most recent role was with the prestigious Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys, where he further refined his analytical skills in a fiercely competitive environment. His experience there in player development and opposition analysis has contributed significantly to his tactical acumen and performance optimization techniques. However, what truly underscores Augusto’s readiness for his new role at Al Qadsiah is his diverse experience across various football cultures.

As the Head of Performance Analysis at Montevideo City Torque, Augusto played a critical role in the club’s campaigns in the Uruguayan League and Copa Libertadores. He was instrumental in leading the Individual Development Plan, helping to maximize each player's potential through tailored strategies. His analytical insights were key to Montevideo City Torque's competitive edge, demonstrating his ability to turn data into actionable strategies that drive success.

Augusto’s international experience also includes his tenure with the Chile National Team during the World Cup 2022 Qualifiers and Copa America 2022. In these high-stakes tournaments, Augusto was responsible for crafting detailed opposition reports, conducting post-match analysis, and managing game model KPI databases. His contributions were crucial in helping the national team navigate the complexities of international competition, providing the coaching staff with the insights needed to make informed tactical decisions.

Moreover, Augusto’s experience at Al Ahly SC in Egypt, one of Africa’s most successful clubs, further solidifies his readiness for the challenges at Al Qadsiah. As the Head of Performance Analysis, Augusto played a vital role in the team’s triumphs in the Egyptian Premier League and African Champions League. His work involved comprehensive opposition analyses, post-match reviews, and individual player reports essential for strategic planning. This experience within an Arabic-speaking country provided Augusto with invaluable insights into the footballing styles and approaches prevalent in the MENA region, enhancing his ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments—a crucial asset as he takes on his new role at Al Qadsiah.

At Club Nacional de Football in Uruguay, Augusto was a key figure in multiple championship-winning campaigns, including the Copa Libertadores U20 triumph and several Uruguayan League titles. His ability to develop and implement performance analysis techniques significantly contributed to the team’s success, demonstrating his capacity to enhance winning teams—a quality that Al Qadsiah will undoubtedly benefit from as they aim to establish themselves in the Saudi Pro League.

Now that Augusto is in Khobar and prepared for his first preseason friendly fixture tonight against Ittihad, we are excited to see the impact he will have on the first team and the department around him. His expertise and experience make him a vital addition to Al Qadsiah, a club that is not just looking to compete, but to excel in the Saudi Pro League.

As we look forward to the 24/25 season, we are confident that Augusto’s contributions will help Al Qadsiah reach new heights. At Jobs4Football, we remain committed to supporting clubs and professionals in achieving their goals and continuing to shape the future of football across the globe.
