U.S. Soccer Federation

Founded in 1913

About Us

The U.S. Soccer Federation, commonly known as U.S. Soccer, is the national governing body for soccer in the United States. Founded in 1913, the organisation governs soccer in its various forms across the country and serves as the United States’ member association within FIFA and Concacaf. Its mission is centred on serving soccer and developing the sport at recreational, competitive and elite levels. U.S. Soccer oversees the United States National Teams, including the Men’s National Team, Women’s National Team, Youth National Teams and Extended National Teams, while also supporting the broader American soccer ecosystem. The federation’s responsibilities extend beyond national-team competition. It develops coaching and referee education, talent identification, high-performance programmes, player development initiatives and resources for member organisations throughout the American soccer system. Its Talent Identification department, for example, works to identify and monitor players for national teams while providing education and resources intended to improve scouting and talent identification across the wider ecosystem. U.S. Soccer is also responsible for administering and sanctioning national competitions, including the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and works with its member organisations to strengthen participation and development throughout the country. Its role includes governance, technical development, safeguarding, competition administration and support for the wider soccer community. In 2026, U.S. Soccer entered a major new phase with the opening of the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Fayetteville, Georgia. The facility became the federation’s new headquarters and the home of all 27 U.S. National Teams. It provides dedicated headquarters space for U.S. Soccer staff together with high-performance facilities, training infrastructure, meeting rooms, sports-science resources and multiple football fields. The centre is designed to create a central environment for player development, coaching, performance analysis, recovery and collaboration across the national-team system. U.S. Soccer is organised as a nonprofit federation and maintains relationships with FIFA, Concacaf, the U.S. Olympic movement and its numerous member organisations. Its national governing role places it at the centre of the American soccer structure, connecting professional, amateur, youth and grassroots football with international football governance. With its new Georgia headquarters and National Training Center, U.S. Soccer is positioned to support the continued growth and long-term development of soccer throughout the United States.
