    About Us

Sønderjyske Fodbold Akademi is the elite youth-development department of Sønderjyske Fodbold, a professional Danish football organisation based in Haderslev. The academy forms an important part of the club's long-term sporting strategy, with a clear focus on identifying, developing and preparing young players for senior football and, ultimately, the first team. Sønderjyske Fodbold was established in its current form in 2004, while its footballing roots extend back to Haderslev Fodboldklub, founded in 1906. The academy operates a structured development pathway covering multiple youth age groups, including U13, U14, U15, U17 and U19. Its current academy staff includes specialist coaches and personnel responsible for physical development, goalkeeping, physiotherapy, mental performance, scouting, recruitment and player transition. The academy is led by Academy Director Jonas Hansen, while Lars Vind joined in 2026 as Head of Coaching to further strengthen the coaching and talent-development environment. A major objective of the academy is to create a clear pathway from youth football to the first team. Its current strategic targets include developing two first-team players every season, increasing the number of locally developed players, achieving a four-star DBU academy licence and increasing the number of home-grown minutes contributed to the first team. The club specifically aims for 70% of academy players to originate from Southern Jutland and Schleswig. The academy currently holds a DBU league licence for the 2026–28 period and has been awarded a 3.5-star assessment, scoring 65.27 points in the latest evaluation. This places Sønderjyske among the top youth-development environments in Danish football. Beyond its central academy programme, Sønderjyske Fodbold maintains an extensive network of partner clubs throughout Southern Jutland. The club currently works with 60 partner clubs, using these relationships to identify talent, share coaching knowledge and strengthen youth football throughout the region. Academy coaches regularly visit partner clubs to conduct training sessions and provide education to local coaches. The academy also operates additional development initiatives such as the Sønderjyske ATK+ Centre, Sønderjyske BørneAkademi and Sønderjyske GrænseAkademi, providing further opportunities for boys and girls to develop their football abilities.
