    About Us

Sheffield & Hallamshire County Football Association (SHCFA) is the County Football Association responsible for the administration, governance, development and promotion of affiliated football across Sheffield and the surrounding area. Founded in 1867, it is recognised by the Football Association as the oldest County FA in England. The organisation supports grassroots football across a broad geographical area, including Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and parts of the surrounding region. SHCFA works with clubs, leagues, players, coaches, referees, volunteers and community organisations to make football accessible and inclusive. Its responsibilities include club affiliation, competitions, discipline, safeguarding, referee development, coach education, football development and facility improvement. The association administers numerous county cup competitions and supports thousands of teams and players across its affiliated football network. It also delivers development programmes designed to increase participation among women and girls, young people, disabled participants and other under-represented groups. SHCFA provides coaching education through FA and UEFA-accredited courses and supports referees through recruitment, development and continuing education. The organisation also works with The Football Association, local authorities, schools, community groups and football clubs to strengthen the grassroots game and improve the quality of football provision. Its current headquarters are at Steel City Stadium within Olympic Legacy Park in Sheffield. Through its governance and development work, Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA aims to create safe, inclusive and sustainable football opportunities while using football to make a positive contribution to local communities.
