The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is one of the six continental confederations recognised by FIFA and is responsible for the development and organisation of football across the South Pacific. The confederation currently supports 11 Member Associations and two Associate Members across Oceania, providing assistance through education, development programmes, competitions and other football-related initiatives. Its General Secretariat is responsible for implementing decisions of the OFC Executive Committee and works closely with Member Associations throughout the Pacific. The origins of OFC date back to 1964, when the idea of establishing a football confederation for the Pacific was discussed during the Tokyo Olympic Games. The initiative involved FIFA President Sir Stanley Rous, Jim Bayutti of the Australian Soccer Federation and Sid Guppy of the New Zealand Football Association. Following further development of the proposal, FIFA formally approved the formation of the confederation in 1966. The founding members were Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. OFC organises and administers major regional competitions for men's and women's football, including the OFC Men's Nations Cup, OFC Women's Nations Cup, OFC Men's Champions League, OFC Women's Champions League, futsal and beach-soccer competitions, youth tournaments and Oceania qualifying competitions for FIFA World Cups and Olympic football tournaments. Alongside competitions, football education and capability building are central to OFC's work. Its programmes support coaches, referees, administrators and other football professionals, while its Education Centre brings together learning opportunities covering coaching, refereeing, social development, media and administration. The organisation's stated strategic priorities include improving international performance, strengthening football education and capability, and growing the game while providing positive experiences for participants. OFC's General Secretariat is based at the OFC Home of Football – Te Kahu o Kiwa in Auckland, New Zealand. The organisation's official contact information identifies its physical location at 62–80 College Road, St Johns, Auckland 1072. Through its governance, competitions, education and development programmes, OFC provides the regional structure connecting football associations across the Pacific with FIFA and the international football system. Its broader purpose is to strengthen football both on and off the pitch while contributing to social, educational and community development throughout Oceania.
