Montpellier FC is a professional women’s football club based in Montpellier, Occitanie, France, competing in the Arkema Première Ligue, the highest level of women’s football in France. The club officially adopted the name Montpellier FC in July 2026 following its acquisition by Crux Football, becoming an independent organisation dedicated entirely to women’s football after more than 25 years of history under Montpellier Hérault Sport Club. The club identifies 2001 as its founding year, when Montpellier-Le Crès was integrated into MHSC and became the women’s team. 

The organisation is recognised as a pioneer of women’s football in France. According to its official history, it became the first French club to offer a professional contract to a female player and has maintained a continuous presence in the French top flight for over two decades. Montpellier FC has won two French Championship titles (2004 and 2005), three Coupe de France Féminine trophies (2006, 2007 and 2009), reached the UEFA Women’s Cup semi-finals in 2005, and secured four French U19 national championships, reflecting its long-standing commitment to elite player development. 

The club combines a professional first team with a fully integrated academy, providing a development pathway from U14 through the senior squad. Its philosophy centres on creating a sustainable model for women’s football through performance, innovation, education and community engagement. Montpellier FC describes itself as the only fully women’s professional football club in France to unite an elite first team and academy under one organisational structure. 

Headquartered at the Domaine de Grammont in Montpellier, the club plays its home fixtures at the Stade de la Mosson and Grammont facilities. Alongside its sporting ambitions, Montpellier FC continues expanding its commercial, digital and community operations while positioning itself as one of the leading institutions in French and European women’s football.
