Independiente del Valle is an Ecuadorian professional football club based in Sangolquí, in the Pichincha province. Founded in 1958 as Club Deportivo Independiente, the club later became known as Independiente José Terán before adopting its current name in 2007. The organisation has developed a distinctive football model centred on youth development, education, innovation, sports science and long-term player development. Its professional men's team competes in Ecuador's LigaPro and has achieved major domestic and international success, including the Ecuadorian championship in 2021, Copa Ecuador in 2022, Supercopa Ecuador in 2023, and CONMEBOL Sudamericana titles in 2019 and 2022. The club also reached the 2016 Copa Libertadores final. Independiente del Valle operates extensive youth and academy structures and has become widely recognised for producing elite Ecuadorian talent. Its development system has contributed players to the Ecuadorian national team and major European clubs. The organisation also operates women's football through Dragonas IDV and maintains numerous football schools across Ecuador.
