Gil Vicente Futebol Clube is a Portuguese professional football club based in Barcelos, in the Braga District of northern Portugal. The club was founded on 3 May 1924 as Gil Vicente Foot-Ball Club, taking its name from the Gil Vicente theatre in the centre of Barcelos, where a group of local friends regularly played football.
