    About Us

Futebol Clube de Vizela, commonly known as FC Vizela, is a Portuguese football club based in Vizela, in the Braga District of northern Portugal. The club was founded on 1 January 1939 and has developed into the principal football institution representing the city of Vizela. Its official history records a long competitive tradition, including national titles in the Portuguese third tier in 1966/67 and 1981/82, the Northern Zone of the second division in 1983/84 and the Segunda Divisão B championship in 2004/05. The club has also reached Portugal's top flight on four occasions, most recently in the 2023/24 season. FC Vizela operates a wider sporting structure beyond its senior men's football team. The club's official information highlights football development through its youth teams, including Under-23 and Under-19 sides, while the organisation also maintains athletics and basketball sections. Its football-development programme serves more than 250 athletes, demonstrating the club's broader community and sporting role within Vizela. The club's principal football facilities are centred around the Estádio do FC Vizela and its associated sports complex. The complex includes the stadium and three training pitches, one natural-grass and two synthetic-grass surfaces. The stadium's artificial lighting was inaugurated in 2016, while substantial infrastructure improvements followed the creation of the club's SAD in 2016. FC Vizela currently competes in Portugal's Liga Meu Super, the country's second tier, during the 2026/27 season. The club's official website is actively publishing first-team news, transfers and league information, while its current organisational structure separates the club's traditional association activities from the professional SAD. In December 2025, João Madureira was installed as president of the club for the 2026–2028 mandate, succeeding Eduardo Guimarães after his long tenure. The professional SAD is separately led within its own corporate structure.
