The Association régionale de soccer Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean (ARS) is the regional soccer governing and development organisation serving the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean area of Quebec, Canada. The association states that it was founded in 1970 and has progressively expanded its role from a predominantly municipal recreational structure into a regional organisation responsible for supporting and coordinating soccer across the territory. Its core mandate is to promote and encourage soccer at both recreational and competitive levels, supervise and sanction activities under its jurisdiction, bring together clubs and organisations involved in soccer, and provide technical and administrative assistance to its members. It also seeks to develop players, coaches, referees and other soccer personnel so that talented participants can progress toward higher levels of the sport. The ARS operates across the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region and, under its current structure, also works with the Chibougamau-Chapais area. Its activities include regional competitions, summer and futsal leagues, tournaments, referee and coaching development, and technical programmes for young players. The association's current regional league documentation confirms its role in organising and administering regional competitions during the 2026 season. Player development is an important component of its work. The ARS operates Regional Identification Programmes (PIR), including the U12 programme, designed to identify players and players with high potential and support their progression toward later regional programmes and the Sport-Études pathway. The organisation has also been involved in the regional Sport-Études soccer programme, working with educational institutions to combine academic studies with structured soccer development. Administratively, the ARS has maintained a permanent regional structure for several decades; its own history notes that a general management position existed from 1989 and that the organisation moved to a full-time employee structure in 2009. The association is based in Jonquière, within the City of Saguenay, Quebec, and is recognised by Soccer Québec as one of the province's regional soccer associations.
