About Us

AS Nancy Lorraine, commonly known as ASNL or Nancy, is a professional French football club based in Tomblaine, in the Grand Est region, and representing the city of Nancy. The club was founded on 16 June 1967 and plays its home matches at Stade Marcel Picot, which has a capacity of 20,087 spectators. AS Nancy Lorraine has developed a significant history within French professional football and has established a strong identity around its red-and-white colours and the nickname “Les Chardons.” The club's honours include the Coupe de France in 1978 and the Coupe de la Ligue in 2006. Nancy has also won the French second division championship five times, in 1975, 1990, 1998, 2005 and 2016. These achievements make the club one of the historically prominent sides in French football outside the traditional group of Ligue 1 title contenders. ASNL has traditionally placed considerable emphasis on player development through its Centre de Formation, named after former club legend Michel Platini. The training centre combines football development with academic education and has historically produced players who have progressed to professional and international football. The club also operates a women's section and youth football structures, extending its football activities beyond the senior men's team. In recent seasons, the club has undergone an important sporting rebuilding process. After experiencing financial and sporting difficulties, Nancy competed in the Championnat National before winning the 2024–25 National championship and returning to Ligue 2 for the 2025–26 season. The club's return to Ligue 2 marked an important step in restoring its position within French professional football. AS Nancy Lorraine's main administrative and sporting base is Stade Marcel Picot at 90 Boulevard Jean-Jaurès in Tomblaine. The stadium also hosts the club's commercial, hospitality and business activities. The organisation's official website maintains dedicated commercial, ticketing, academy, women's football and supporter operations, demonstrating the breadth of its modern football structure. The club's LinkedIn profile identifies AS Nancy Lorraine as a spectator-sports organisation, with 51–200 employees and headquarters in Tomblaine, Grand Est. It also identifies professional football, hospitality, sponsorship and its training centre among the club's principal activities.
