Description

Hours of work: Sessional – Hours predominately between 9:00 and 17:00

Salary: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on qualifications & experience)

Location: Lions Centre and satellite sites in Southwark and Lewisham

Responsible to: Youth Employability Hub Coordinator & Employability & Mentoring Officer

Supervises: 16-24 young people


Role Summary

Millwall Community Trust, in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Jobcentre Plus (JCP), delivers an innovative Youth Employability Hub supporting 16–24-year-olds into education, employment, apprenticeships and training.
We are seeking motivated and experienced Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Mentors to provide high-quality one-to-one mentoring, employability support and careers guidance. You will build positive relationships with young people, helping them develop confidence, overcome barriers and progress towards sustained positive destinations.
Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you will benefit from a comprehensive CPD programme, ongoing mentoring and opportunities to develop your skills and progress within the Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing programme making a genuine difference to local young people, with the potential for future permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Caseload Management
• Deliver mentoring to an allocated caseload of Hub referrals assigned by the E&M Officer
• Deliver engaging 1:1 and small-group mentoring that supports individual progression.
• Identify employment barriers providing practical support and signposting as required.
• Identify barriers to employment, providing practical support, and signposting
• Complete regular reviews, monitoring progress, attendance, and distance travelled.
• Proactively follow up disengagement, escalating any safeguarding and complex needs

2. Employability, IAG & Progression
• Deliver high-quality IAG across employment, education, apprenticeships and training.
• Support CV writing, applications, interview preparation and employability skills.
• Develop action plans and broker employment, training and work taster pathways
• Maintain knowledge of local employers, providers and employment opportunities.
• Deliver employability workshops on CVs, interview skills and career planning.



3. Partnership & Engagement
• Work collaboratively with Jobcentre Plus, Employers, and training and delivery partners.
• Promote Hub activities, recruitment events and employer engagement opportunities.
• Liaise proactively with partners to identify and secure suitable progression routes.
• Support delivery of workshops, recruitment events and employer engagement activities.
• Represent MCT professionally with partners and stakeholders.
• Develop positive employer partner relationships creating clear progression pathways

4. Outcomes & Quality
• Support participants towards agreed mentoring and positive destination outcomes
• Monitor progress against individual action plans and programme outcomes.
• Share participant feedback and evidence to compliment funder progress reporting
• Support Hub KPI achievement through effective mentoring and engagement.
• Identify progression opportunities that meet participant and funding requirements.
• Contribute to quality assurance, self-evaluation and continuous improvement.
5. Administration & Compliance
• Complete enrolments, action plans, reviews and programme documentation.
• Maintain accurate participant records across Hub MIS and CRM systems.
• Record attendance, mentoring activity, progress and participant outcomes.
• Complete timely follow-up of participant attendance and engagement.
• Ensure records and delivery meet GDPR, safeguarding and programme.

6. Safeguarding & Professional Responsibilities
• Ensure safeguarding, GDPR, equality, H&S and MCT policies are adhered at all times.
• Undertake CPD and mandatory training as required by the Trust.
• Ensure all activities are appropriately risk assessed and delivered safely.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and positively promote MCT and programmes.


7. Additional responsibilities
• Model professional conduct and actively demonstrate MCT core values in your work.
• Act as a positive role model, presenting a professional image of the Trust and its services.
• Develop understanding and commitment to equal opportunities, in workplace & community

• Contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvement within the Trust.
• Support all MCT departments on trust initiatives as identified by CEO, SLT & Trustees
• Actively promote the Trust in a positive and professional manner.

ü Mental Health First Aid (or similar)

ü Experience supporting young people into education, employment or training.

ü Experience providing 1:1 and small group interventions.
ü Knowledge of local employment and training opportunities.
ü Experience working with external partners & referral agencies
ü Good IT skills including Microsoft Office. ü Experience working with SEND and/or vulnerable young people.
ü Experience using CRM/MIS systems (e.g Salesforce, SIMS)
ü Experience producing reports and outcome evidence.
ü Experience delivering presentations or workshops.
ü Experience within the community or voluntary sector.
