Role Summary: The Youth Development Phase Lead Coach is responsible for the holistic development of players typically aged 11 to 16 (U12–U16), ensuring full alignment with the club’s coaching philosophy, playing style, and long-term player development framework. This role involves strategic planning, hands-on delivery, and ongoing evaluation of training programs, matchday performance, and player progression. The coach will also oversee and mentor a team of phase-specific coaches to maintain a consistent and high-quality learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the coaching program for the Youth Development Phase in line with the club’s syllabus, values, and long-term player development strategy.
- Plan and deliver high-quality, age-appropriate training sessions that challenge and inspire players across technical, tactical, physical, and psychological dimensions.
- Design and implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and provide regular performance reviews to players and parents.
- Mentor and line-manage a team of age-group coaches, supporting their continuous professional development and ensuring alignment with the club’s methodology.
- Collaborate with performance, medical, and psychology staff to deliver a cohesive, multi-disciplinary approach to player wellbeing, load management, and rehabilitation.
- Oversee matchday preparation and in-game management, setting and reinforcing tactical clarity and individual learning objectives.
- Lead regular phase-specific meetings and player-parent reviews to communicate goals, feedback, and progress updates effectively.
- Maintain up-to-date records including session plans, player evaluations, attendance, match reports, and coach reflections.
- Contribute to the talent identification and recruitment process, including trials, assessments, and scouting networks.
- Act as a role model for high professional standards, both on and off the pitch.
- Promote a culture of learning, discipline, accountability, and enjoyment within the phase.
Key Requirements:
- UEFA B License (or equivalent minimum requirement for the age group); UEFA A preferred
- Up-to-date Safeguarding and First Aid certifications
- Proven experience working with youth players (ages 11–16) in an academy or structured development environment
- Strong understanding of the EPPP model and long-term player development principles
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor coaching staff
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Competence with modern coaching technology (e.g., video analysis, GPS data, session planning tools)
- A genuine passion for developing young people both as footballers and individuals
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
- Full driving license
Desirable:
- Experience managing a team of coaches or leading a development phase in a professional academy
- Understanding of multi-disciplinary support (sports science, S&C, psychology, nutrition)
- Experience in international or culturally diverse football environments
- Involvement in academy audits, player pathway planning, or meeting national governing body standards
- Fluency in additional languages is advantageous
