Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Women’s Team at Watford Football Club. We are currently looking to recruit a Safeguarding & Welfare Officer, whose role will be to ensure that the team is operating within a safe, supportive, and player-centered environment, in compliance with the FA, league, and statutory safeguarding requirements.
The successful candidate will support the induction and transition of new players into the squad and provide guidance and support to players relating to well-being and personal development.
The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team, be enthusiastic, hardworking, and be flexible to the requirements of the position and the business.
Applicants should ideally live local to Watford and London Colney or the surrounding areas and be a UK resident or non-UK resident with a valid UK work permit and ideally have experience working within a similar role.
You Must Have
- Experience working within safeguarding, welfare, or player care environments.
- An understanding of FA Safeguarding policies and procedures.
- The ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Experience working with athletes or within a high-performance sporting environment.
- FA Safeguarding qualifications.
- Mental Health First Aid.
- Full UK driving licence or ability to travel to various locations due to the demands of the role.
- Understanding of the Club's commitment to EDI & Safeguarding.
You Would Ideally Have (But Not Essential)
- Relevant degree in sport, welfare, social care, or a related field.

As a regulated activity provider and as part of the short-listing process we may:
- Complete reference requests prior to interview.
- Carry out an online search for publicly available information as part of the due diligence process.
- If your application is successful, be required to obtain a DBS disclosure at the appropriate level (role dependant).
