Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Women’s Team at Watford Football Club. We are currently looking to recruit a Performance Wellbeing Lead, who will be responsible for leading and embedding a holistic wellbeing programme for the Women’s Team, supporting physical, psychological, emotional, and social wellbeing in line with WSL requirements and best practice.

The role will work collaboratively across the multidisciplinary performance team to ensure player welfare is prioritised, wellbeing is proactively supported, and appropriate systems are in place to help players thrive on and off the pitch.

The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team, be enthusiastic, hardworking, and be flexible to the requirements of the position and the business.

Applicants should ideally live local to Watford and London Colney or the surrounding areas and be a UK resident or non-UK resident with a valid UK work permit and ideally have experience working within a similar role.

 

You Must Have

  • A degree in a relevant field (Sport Psychology, Performance Wellbeing, Education, etc.). 
  • Experience supporting wellbeing within sport, performance environments, or similar settings. 
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and duty of care in football. 
  • The ability to build trust and rapport with players and staff. 
  • A willingness to work evenings, weekends, and matchdays. 
  • Full UK driving licence or ability to travel to various locations due to the demands of the role. 
  • Understanding of the Club's commitment to EDI & Safeguarding. 

 

You Would Ideally Have (But Not Essential)

  • Level 3 Athlete Personal and Development Lifestyle Certification. 
  • Experience working in women’s football or elite sport. 
  • Mental Health First Aid or equivalent qualification. 
  • Knowledge of FA/WSL safeguarding and wellbeing frameworks. 
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary performance team. 

 

As a Regulated Activity Provider

As a regulated activity provider and as part of the short-listing process we may:

  1. Complete reference requests prior to interview. 
  2. Carry out an online search for publicly available information as part of the due diligence process. 
  3. If your application is successful, be required to obtain a DBS disclosure at the appropriate level (role dependant).
