About Luton Town Ladies FC

Luton Town Ladies FC are an ambitious and developing women’s football club competing in the FA Women’s National League.

As the club continues to develop both on and off the pitch, we are looking to provide opportunities for students to gain valuable practical experience within a senior women’s football environment.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Analyst to join our first-team support staff and contribute to the analysis and preparation of the team throughout the season.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student looking to develop their experience in football analysis, performance analysis, coaching support and the wider professional football environment.

The Role

The First Team Analyst will work closely with the First Team Manager and Women’s General Manager, supporting the coaching staff with opposition, team and player analysis.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to attend first-team training sessions and matchdays, as well as undertake analysis remotely during the week.

The role can be adapted around the successful applicant’s university, college or educational commitments.

Key Responsibilities

Match Analysis

• Attend selected first-team matches to support live and post-match analysis.
• Record and analyse key match events and performance data.
• Review match footage to identify trends, strengths and areas for improvement.
• Produce post-match analysis reports and video clips for the coaching staff.
• Assist with maintaining an organised library of match footage and analysis.

Opposition Analysis

• Research and analyse upcoming opponents.
• Identify opposition strengths, weaknesses, playing style and tactical tendencies.
• Analyse areas such as:

o Formation and shape
o Build-up play
o Pressing and defensive organisation
o Set pieces
o Transitions
o Attacking patterns
o Individual player tendencies

• Produce concise opposition reports and presentations for the coaching staff.

Training Analysis

• Attend selected training sessions where required.
• Support the coaching staff with recording and reviewing training activities.
• Assist with video analysis of specific training practices where appropriate.
• Provide observations and relevant analysis to support player and team development.

Performance Analysis

• Support the coaching staff in identifying key performance indicators.
• Assist with tracking team and player performance throughout the season.
• Help develop simple and effective analysis processes suitable for the club.
• Contribute ideas for improving the club's use of data, video and performance analysis.

General Support

• Work collaboratively with the First Team Manager, coaching staff and General Manager.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding team, player and opposition information.
• Carry out research and analytical tasks remotely when required.
• Assist with other football-related projects that support the development of the first team.

Working Pattern

This is a hybrid voluntary placement.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend a selection of:

• First-team training sessions
• Home matches
• Away matches where appropriate
• Staff meetings or analysis sessions

A proportion of the role will be completed remotely, including:

• Video analysis
• Opposition research
• Report writing
• Data analysis
• Preparation of presentations and clips

We understand that this is a student placement and will therefore work with the successful candidate to establish a practical schedule around their educational commitments.

Person Specification

Essential

• Currently studying at university, college or another relevant educational institution.
• Strong interest in football and performance analysis.
• Good understanding of football tactics and the principles of the game.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office/Google Workspace or similar.
• Willingness to learn and develop within the role.
• Professional and reliable approach.

Desirable

• Studying Sports Performance, Sports Coaching, Sports Analysis, Sport & Exercise Science, Data Science or a related subject.
• Previous experience of football analysis.
• Experience using analysis platforms such as Hudl, Veo, Nacsport, LongoMatch or similar.
• Experience working with video editing software.
• Basic understanding of performance data and statistics.
• Previous experience within a football club or sporting environment.
• Full UK driving licence and access to transport would be advantageous but is not essential.
