About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Rehabilitation Physiotherapist to join our First Team medical and performance department. This role is central to our player care and return-to-play process, leading the rehabilitation journey from initial injury through to full match readiness.

You will play a key role in coordinating recovery strategies, designing and delivering on-field rehabilitation, and working closely with medical, physical performance, and coaching staff to ensure players return safely and successfully to elite-level competition.

Key Responsibilities

Injury Rehabilitation Management

Take ownership of the entire injury rehab process for First Team players

Lead recovery planning from diagnosis through to return-to-play, including re-integration into team training and competitive match play

Individual Rehab Programme Design

Create and manage bespoke rehabilitation plans that include gym-based strength and conditioning, pitch-based conditioning, and technical/tactical reintegration

Tailor plans based on the type and severity of injury, player profile, and position-specific demands

On-Pitch Return to Play Sessions

Deliver progressive, structured on-field rehabilitation sessions

Ensure sessions address physical readiness, technical execution, and tactical application in realistic scenarios

Use periodised progression to monitor load and readiness for return

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Communicate closely with medical, S&C, performance analysis, coaching, and nutrition staff

Provide regular updates on player status, timelines, and reconditioning progress

Ensure a fully integrated, team-based approach to injury recovery and prevention

Objective Testing and Monitoring

Utilise tools such as GPS, isokinetic or strength testing, and force plate diagnostics to inform decision-making

Track and document rehabilitation progress using measurable physical and performance benchmarks

Injury Prevention & Screening

Contribute to musculoskeletal screening processes and prehab routines

Assist in identifying individual risk factors and addressing them proactively within training and conditioning plans

Candidate Profile

We’re looking for a proactive, detail-oriented clinician with a strong foundation in sports rehabilitation and a passion for performance-led recovery. The ideal candidate will have experience in elite football environments and be confident leading a return-to-play process in a multidisciplinary setting.

Essential Requirements:

BSc (or higher) in Physiotherapy and relevant licensing/registration to practice

Proven experience working with elite/professional athletes in football or other high-performance sports

Strong knowledge of injury rehabilitation protocols, exercise prescription, and performance reconditioning

Experience delivering on-pitch rehab aligned with physical, technical, and tactical goals

Comfortable using performance and diagnostic tools (e.g. GPS, NordBord, Force Plates)

Excellent communication and organisational skills to liaise across departments

Desirable Attributes:

Previous experience in a First Team football environment

Experience working internationally or in multicultural settings

Interest in using technology and data to enhance recovery outcomes

Relevant postgraduate certifications in sports rehabilitation or strength & conditioning
