Description

Derby County are seeking to recruit a Matchday and Fan Engagement Assistant to join Matchday Marketing at Pride Park Stadium.

Working for Derby County Football Club offers a unique opportunity to be part of one of England’s most historic and passionately supported clubs. With a proud legacy, a dedicated fan base, and an exciting vision for the future, Derby County offers a dynamic and rewarding work environment both on and off the pitch. Whether you're joining the team in coaching, administration, marketing, or operations, you'll be contributing to a culture rooted in ambition, community, and progress. Employees benefit from a collaborative work environment and opportunities for professional development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Matchday Organiser in delivering a high-quality matchday experience for all attendees. This includes promoting matchday events, assisting with on-the-day operations, and acting as a key point of contact for supporters and staff. The role brings together responsibilities of a Matchday Event Assistant and Supporter Liaison Officer, with a strong focus on fan engagement and customer service.

Key Role Responsibilities:
• To work as part of the Events Team and assist with all elements contributing to the full Derby County Football Club fan experience, including but not limited to:
• Mini Squad (Player Escorts) - an exclusive and very special opportunity where registered grassroots clubs (aged 6–12) have the chance to walk out of the tunnel with the first team and take part in the pre-match handshake on the pitch.
• Guard of Honour - targeted towards registered grassroots clubs, where young players welcome the first team and their opponents onto the pitch ahead of kick-off through the Guard of Honour initiative.
• Family and Game Zones - providing an interactive, fun, and safe space for fans to enjoy colouring and craft competitions, video games, face painting, and foosball.
• Additional Activities - including meet-and-greet opportunities with club mascots.
• To positively engage with fans to promote the club’s activities and matchday themes.
• Any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Matchday and Fan Engagement Lead in relation to this role from time to time.
• Attend all pre-match briefings, listening to any additional information relevant to the matchday or event and covert operations taking place within your area.
• Remain in your allocated position(s) and location(s) at all times unless authorised to leave by the Matchday and Fan Engagement Lead.
• Provide high-quality customer service through assistance, direction, and safety advice to spectators visiting Pride Park Stadium.

Key Accountabilities as part of Matchday Supporter Liaison Officer (MSLO):
• Act as a Matchday Supporter Liaison Officer when required.
• Welcome visitors to Pride Park Stadium, promoting the club’s brand and ethos in a professional, confident, and positive manner, while liaising with and providing feedback to the Matchday Supporter Liaison Supervisor to ensure all supporter issues are resolved.
• Provide help, guidance, and answers to supporters prior to kick-off and when entering the stadium.
• Deliver excellent customer service, offering guidance and support to ensure a positive and memorable matchday experience for all.
• Work as part of the Matchday Events Team, dealing with a range of fan queries or seeking further information where required.
• Keep up to date, as necessary for the effective execution of the role, with new procedures and techniques.
• Undertake and attend additional training as identified or required.
• Maintain a strong knowledge of the stadium layout, including the location of essential medical rooms and emergency equipment.

General:
• To be responsible for the health, safety and welfare of customers and colleagues, complying with health and safety guidance and policy.
• Continuously work to maintain, embed and improve the club’s safeguarding provision, ensuring the highest standards for safeguarding children and adults at risk.
• To uphold and promote organisational policies and procedures, promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work and also including equality, diversity and inclusion.
