Job Overview

The main responsibility of the Lead Technical Scout (Europe 2, Americas, Africa) is to identify and recommend players for Brentford Football Club’s First Team & B Team from all key markets in Europe 2; Americas and Africa using objective and subjective data resource.

Europe 2: France; Spain; Portugal; Belgium; East Europe.
Americas: All American countries where required.
Africa: All African countries where required.

Key Responsibilities

• To support & maximize the on use of all available data and scouting resource to help identify suitable players for Brentford Football Club working across all defined markets in Europe 2; Americas and Africa.
• To work closely with the Head of Technical Scouting to provide evidence-led detailed analysis on suitable targets for Brentford Football Club in Europe 2; Americas and Africa
• To work closely with Country/Area Specific Scouts providing data insights both proactively and on request for Brentford Football Club in Europe 2; Americas and Africa
• To support on coordination and logistics of live scouting operations across Europe 2; Americas and Africa at the request of the Head of Technical Scouting.
• To create position specific video analysis on players of interest from Europe 2; Americas and Africa at the request of the Head of Technical Scouting.
• Support with detailed documents and presentation material on serious players of interest from Europe 2; Americas and Africa at the request of the Head of Technical Scouting.
• To support Area Scouts in compiling and managing player recommendations documents from Europe 2; Americas and Africa
• To work effectively within the defined Scouting Department processes to ensure serious players of interest from Europe 2; Americas and Africa are identified, and progressed on, faster and more effectively than our competitors.
• To assist the Head of Technical Scouting / Head of Recruitment on any additional responsibilities relevant to your role and areas covered.

Knowledge

• Minimum 2 years’ experience / knowledge of working within a professional football club scouting department, in a technical / data scouting role.
• Existing high-level player knowledge of all Europe 2; Americas and African markets at 1st team and emerging talent levels.
• Ability to work effectively with data / resource to provide assessment on players in alignment with a football club’s positional criteria.
• Ability to articulate insights from data resource on players of interest effectively through verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work effectively within clearly defined processes.
• Organized, structured, and process driven.
• Proactive mindset.

Specialist Skills

• Experience of using relevant football technical scouting platforms.
• Ability to edit / clip video footage using platforms such as WyScout, iMovie, RT Tactic, etc.
• Ability to create data visualizations to engage key staff members within the Recruitment Department.
• IT literate, competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

People Skills

• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders including; Technical Director, Head of Recruitment, Chief Scout, Head Scouts, Head of Technical Scouting, Lead Scouts and Technical Scouts.

External Impact

• Represent the club visibly and professionally at all times, on-site & off-site.
• Maintain strong and professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders.

• Support in driving and evolving Brentford FC technical scouting processes relevant to role & area.
