Description

Based in Manchester, this full-time permanent role will lead the Academy's player accommodation provision, ensuring a high-quality residential environment that supports player wellbeing, recruitment and retention. Working within a semi-residential model that includes regular evening and overnight duties, you will play a key part in creating a safe, supportive and well-run programme for young players.

Who We Are

Manchester City is a football club rooted in East Manchester, with a story that began in 1880 and continues to grow today. Built on resilience, belief and togetherness, success on the pitch is driven by the moments and memories shared with millions of Fans around the world. City is known for its bravery, its determination to the very end and its strong connection to where we come from. With Mancunian roots and a global outlook, we are shaped by our Fans and driven by a long-term vision, from developing future talent to supporting the communities we call home. Together, we are creating the next chapter, the City way.

Within our Academy, the Player Welfare team plays an important role in supporting young players as they develop both on and off the pitch. We work closely with colleagues across the Academy, safeguarding and education to provide a residential experience built around care, consistency and high standards.

The Role

As Head of Player Accommodation, you will lead the strategic development and day-to-day delivery of the Academy's accommodation provision across the City Football Academy and external residences. You will oversee the quality, safety and consistency of the full residential offer, making sure it supports player wellbeing, recruitment and retention while meeting the standards expected across the Club and wider regulatory environment.

You will take ownership of the systems, policies and day-to-day processes that keep the programme running smoothly, from staffing and cover arrangements through to compliance, welfare, health and safety and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role, so you will be visible within the residential environment, comfortable responding to issues in real time, and confident balancing operational detail with longer-term planning and service development.

You will also build trusted relationships with players, parents, Academy colleagues, accommodation partners and local stakeholders, helping to make sure the accommodation offer continues to reflect the changing needs of the Academy. By combining clear leadership, careful oversight and a genuine commitment to young people's wellbeing, you will help create the conditions for players to thrive both personally and in their football journey.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience managing a residential or accommodation setting and leading a team of staff
  • Proven ability to build, develop and influence relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Clear leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, support and guide colleagues day to day
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, welfare and creating a positive environment for young people
  • Good organisational and administrative skills, with confidence using IT systems to support operational delivery
  • A flexible, resilient and solution-focused approach, with a willingness to take on evening and overnight duties as part of a semi-residential model
