Season: September – April, with breaks during school holidays

About the Role
South London Girls Football League is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Games Managers to support the delivery of our Under-7 girls’ football league.
This is a fantastic junior role for someone with some coaching experience, experience working with children, or a strong interest in developing within youth football. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping young players feel confident, supported and excited to play.
The Under-7 league operates without coaches, team managers or referees. Instead, the Games Manager helps supervise the games, support players, guide them with the basic rules and create a fun, positive and encouraging football environment.
This is a brilliant opportunity to gain hands-on experience in grassroots football, youth sport delivery and light supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Game Day Setup
Games Managers will arrive at 10:00 a.m. to support the League Operations Manager with preparing the venue before players arrive.
This will include:
- Setting up pitches.
- Building goals.
- Bringing equipment out to the playing area.
- Getting footballs ready.
- Putting up sponsor banners.
- Making sure everything is in place before the first players arrive at 10:45 a.m.
- Under-7 Game Supervision
During the game hour, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Games Managers will help oversee the Under-7 league games.
The role may include supervising up to two games at the same time and ensuring that players are supported throughout.
Responsibilities include:
- Helping players understand where they need to be.
- Supporting players with the basic rules of the game.
- Reassuring and encouraging young players during matches.
- Helping games flow smoothly and safely.
- Providing simple, positive coaching points where appropriate.
- Creating a fun and inclusive environment for all players.
- Supporting quick transitions and keeping games organised.
- Pack Down
After the games finish, Games Managers will support the League Operations Manager with packing down the venue.
This will include:
- Taking down goals.
- Collecting footballs and equipment.
- Removing sponsor banners.
- Returning equipment safely to storage.
- Helping leave the facility clean, organised and ready for the next users.
About You
We are looking for positive, dependable and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with children and want to develop their experience in football.
You do not need to be an experienced coach, but you should be confident, friendly and willing to learn.
