Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Scouting department as a First Team Scout. Reporting to the Head of Scouting, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and recommending players across assigned domestic and international markets. The role combines extensive video scouting with targeted live scouting and will play a key role in delivering the club's recruitment strategy.


The successful candidate will take ownership of designated markets, developing expert knowledge of relevant players, clubs, and market dynamics to identify and evaluate players capable of meeting the club's sporting objectives. They will deliver high-quality player evaluations, gather market intelligence, and provide informed and decisive player recommendations aligned with the club's positional profiles, playing philosophy, and squad needs.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop expert knowledge of players within assigned domestic and international markets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and monitor players through extensive video and targeted live scouting.
  • Produce high quality scouting reports and player evaluations.
  • Create and maintain target and monitor lists within assigned markets.
  • Utilise video, data analytics, and market intelligence to support player identification,evaluations and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Head of Scouting Operations to ensure efficient and effective market coverage.
  • Gather intelligence on player availability, contractual situations, emerging market opportunities and support the wider due diligence process.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clubs, agents, intermediaries, and other key stakeholders within the industry across domestic and international markets.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the club's current squad profile to support benchmarking and recruitment planning.
  • Contribute to recruitment meetings, player dossiers, and succession planning processes.
  • Positively contribute to the department, taking an active role in the development of modern scouting methodologies to drive continuous growth throughout the scouting process.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in player identification and evaluation within professional football.
  • Demonstrable track record of identifying and recommending players who have delivered positive sporting and/or financial outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international markets.
  • Excellent technical and tactical understanding of the game.
  • Experience combining video scouting, live scouting, and data analytics within the scouting process.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
  • Data literate and comfortable implementing data tools and insights to support day to day operations and decision making.
  • Proficiency in scouting and video platforms such as Hudl Wyscout, Hudl Sportscode,Scoutastic, or similar.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.

Desirable

  • Experience working within an elite football environment.
  • FA Talent Identification Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • UEFA B Coaching Licence (or equivalent).
  • Additional language skills relevant to international markets.
  • Previous playing experience within a professional or semi-professional environment.
