Lead the Player Health and Performance function for Manchester City Women in a permanent, full-time role based at the City Football Academy in Manchester. This is a high-impact leadership appointment for a practitioner who brings deep expertise and experience leading multidisciplinary teams in elite sport. You will enable practitioners to integrate health and performance practice, so we develop physically and psychologically robust players, maximise availability, and enable excellent on-pitch performance.

The Player Health and Performance function plays a central role in that ambition. Working across the Women’s First Team and Women’s Academy, this team helps create conditions for players to stay healthy, develop and perform at their best. The role sits within the wider Women’s Leadership Team, making it an important bridge between performance delivery and football leadership.
The Role
You will guide the delivery of player health and performance strategy across the women’s pathway, bringing calm and clear leadership to the multidisciplinary environment. Your focus will be on evolving our integrated approach developing physically and psychologically robust players, maximizing availability, enabling excellent on-pitch performance, and returning injured players to sustained high performance.
You will also play a wider leadership role across the women’s game at Manchester City. The position requires someone who can work confidently within a matrix structure, partner effectively with coaching and performance colleagues, adapt their approach to different styles and philosophies, and help develop talent within the function so the team around you can grow and thrive.
What You’ll Bring
⚽ Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in an elite sport environment, ideally football, coupled with deep expertise as a practitioner.
⚽ HCPC or equivalent industry accreditation in a medical or performance discipline, and a post-graduate qualification in a related field
⚽ Proven capability to lead multidisciplinary teams to understand the physical and psychological demands of game models and; adapt training, workload management, and injury-risk mitigation to develop robust players capable of consistently meeting these demands with confidence.
⚽ Ability to operate effectively in a matrix structure and build positive partnerships with coaches, performance colleagues and leadership stakeholders
⚽ Clear and effective communication skills, with the capability to flex across different leadership and coaching styles while helping others develop
