Job Title: Community Coach
Organisation: Newcastle United Foundation
Location: Newcastle / Tyneside & Northumberland, England
Reports To: Area Development Coordinator
Hours: 35 hours per week, including up to 3 evenings per week.
Job Summary
To plan, deliver and monitor high-quality coaching programmes across sports and community venues throughout Tyneside and Northumberland, increasing participation among players of all abilities and genders.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a high standard of delivery across all programmes in line with Newcastle United Foundation's quality assurance framework.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate coaching sessions for girls, boys and disabled players.
- Collect registration and monitoring information and complete required data entry in line with quality management standards and deadlines.
- Ensure appropriate supervision and safeguarding of participants in accordance with Foundation policies and procedures.
- Effectively manage risks associated with programmes.
- Support the protection and safeguarding of staff, volunteers, contractors and members of the public.
- Identify and share positive news stories with the Communications Manager.
- Participate in community events and activities as required.
- Keep relevant qualifications and certificates up to date and identify opportunities for continued professional development.
- Attend agreed formal and informal learning activities.
- Present a professional image of Newcastle United Foundation at all times.
- Supervise community coaches, students and/or volunteers when required.
Qualifications & Education
Essential:
- UK Coaching Course Level 2 or UEFA C Licence.
- AfPE qualification, or willingness to work towards it.
- Valid Emergency First Aid Award.
- Valid Safeguarding Award.
Desirable:
- Sports-related degree.
- Completed or working towards Level 3 Teaching Assistant and Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualifications.
Experience
Candidates should have experience in:
- Delivering community football programmes in a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Delivering school sport and PE.
- Planning and reviewing coaching sessions.
- Data collection.
Specialist Training
- Member of the FA Licensed Coaches Club.
Skills & Knowledge
- Good knowledge of long-term player development.
- Knowledge of the PE curriculum.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Ability to deliver both active sessions and classroom-based activities.

Additional Requirements
- The role involves working across different locations.
- An Enhanced DBS check is required.
- Applicants must be able to work up to three evenings per week.
