Description

Stoke City Football Club is seeking an Academy Youth Development Phase Coach to lead the football pathway for Academy players, primarily focusing on the U13 and U14 age groups. You will oversee match and training operations, designing sessions that align with the Club’s coaching and playing philosophy while collaborating with the analysis team and wider multidisciplinary staff to ensure a cohesive development approach.

Beyond the pitch, you will drive player progression through consistent feedback, effective parent engagement, and the meticulous management of individual development plans via the Football Intelligence Platform. This role also requires a proactive approach to trialist management, succession planning, and clear communication with senior leadership to ensure our development processes remain at the forefront of the Academy programme.

The ideal candidate will be available to work evenings and weekends, with a willingness to travel as and when the role requires. 

The position will be offered on a full time and permanent basis.  

Main Responsibilities

  • Leading coaching initiatives for a designated age group within the cell.
  • Planning and delivering the day release programme for both age groups.
  • Supporting fellow coaching staff with delivery and best practice to ensure high standards across the department.
  • Monitoring and driving key development processes within the Youth Development Phase to ensure consistent progression.
  • Identifying areas for development and working with the senior management team and multi-disciplinary staff to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Ensuring consistency in staff delivery of feedback across the Cell to support player progression.                              

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • UEFA A License and Advanced Youth Award.
  • Valid FA Safeguarding and Child Protection certificate.
  • Degree in sports coaching, science, or management is desirable.
  • Proven experience coaching within a professional football academy.
  • Experience in planning age-specific curricula and using analysis platforms.
  • Strong understanding of coaching philosophies and player development.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with players, parents, and staff.
  • Proficiency in managing Individual development plans and reporting systems.
