Academy BTEC TutorHull City

We have an exciting opportunity within our Hull City Academy as BTEC Tutor, providing academic tuition and support to Academy players, particularly those undertaking BTEC Sport qualifications.

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Tutor who will support learners in achieving their academic targets, monitor progress, contribute to individual learning support and provide meaningful feedback to each player.

Position Type: Permanent Part-Time

 Location:  Hull City Academy, Bishop Burton College, York Road, Bishop Burton, HU17 8QG

Working Hours: 2 days per week

Salary:  £14,000 per annum pro rata

Closing Date: 4th August 2026

Your key responsibilities

• Teach academy apprentices for the specified number of hours and create an inspiring learning environment that challenges and supports all our apprentices.
• Complete an annual assessment plan for the units you will be delivering.
• Mark apprentices' work and complete associated administration within 10 working days of learners submitting.
• Provide detailed individual feedback to each apprentice on their progress, challenging the development of academic skills including English and Maths.
• Plan and organise delivery to ensure good/outstanding lessons are taught.
• Support apprentices using a variety of teaching and learning methods to maximise apprentice potential.
• Utilise Hull City Academy's teaching resources and CPD opportunities fully and effectively to enhance learner experience and employability skills.
• Consistently conduct formative assessments to monitor apprentice progress. Use the information from these assessment checks to inform teaching.
• Encourage apprentices to reflect on their own learning experiences and to monitor their own progress.
• Establish open, motivational and trusting relationships with apprentices.
• Encourage apprentices to take responsibility for their own learning.
• Contribute to the regular (approximately 12-weekly) formal review process, as per the BTEC tutor guidance, for each apprentice.
• Liaise with Hull City Academy's Lead Internal Verifier to ensure assessment is appropriate and that apprentice work satisfies awarding body criteria.
• Comply with external verification requirements of awarding body and provide, if requested, access to apprentices and samples of work for scrutiny when requested.
• Attend required training events such as meetings and conferences, as required.
• Attend/participate in meetings and other events as required.
• Comply with the Academies learning cycle of observations of teaching, learning and assessment.
• Play an active part in your own professional development and undertake continual professional development. Maintain a portfolio of your CPD to demonstrate continuing vocational and occupational competence.

About The Candidate

  What are we looking for?

• Degree or equivalent in a sports-related subject is essential.
• A recognised teaching qualification such as a Level 5 or above or QTS is essential.
• Previous experience or knowledge of the football or sports industry.
• Knowledge and experience of vocational education pre or post-16 BTEC sport courses; delivering teaching, learning and assessment within the sports environment and working in 16-19 environments
• Must be able to work and teach as part of a team and successfully achieve deadlines independently.
• Must have an awareness or commitment to Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety legislation, Safeguarding and CPD.
• The safeguarding and welfare of our players is paramount and as such this position is subject to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

About the Academy

 Hull City Academy develops and works with talented young footballers from the age of 8 to 23. We have made significant progress at the Academy since the Club successfully achieved its quest to gain Category Two status in the summer of 2015, with the primary focus on developing and nurturing players with outstanding potential into future first team regulars. In line with the Football Association’s Charter of Quality, the Academy prepares players of the future for the Club and enables our scholars to progress both on and off the field throughout their tenure with us. With a number of scholars making their First Team debuts in the past three seasons, the sale of an Academy product to the Premier League and many more former Academy players currently applying their trade across Europe, this is a truly exciting time to be part of Hull City. We are now expanding our Academy Recruitment Department to provide an opportunity to more young players from the region to follow in the footsteps of previous graduates such as Jarrod Bowen, Max Clark and Keane Lewis-Potter.
