Ex West Ham starlet joins Leeds United

Leeds United has announced the signing Sonny Perkins, on a three year deal. Perkins left West Ham earlier in the summer at the end his scholarship.

Leeds have placed a lot of emphasis on buying and developing career opportunities with the aim of finding The Premier League’s next starlets.

Darko Gyabi joined this month in competition for Lewis Bate. Sonny Perkins now joins the club on a three-year contract with the price being decided by tribunal. Mateo Joseph is now facing competition from the 18-year old Perkins, with Joe Gelhardt & Sam Greenwood moving up to the front. Perkins, who is versatile and can be played on either the wing or central midfield, is not only a talented player.

Perkins quit West Ham in the summer of his contract expiring. He had to choose between Leeds or a move with his boyhood team, Spurs. Despite the temptation of working with Harry Kane or Antonio Conte, The Whites have managed trump the competition.

Perkins made his Europa League and Premier League debuts last year under David Moyes. Perkins is a great admirer of David Moyes. Last season, Perkins was a Premier League 2 player who scored 12 goals in 21 games and also provided one assist. Additionally, he is a two-time England U-18 champion.

Perkins has scored 21 goals and assisted five in the last two seasons in all competitions, even limited senior minutes. Perkins played primarily as a center-forward during his 58 appearances in all competitions. When we reduce that to The Premier League 2 or Under-18 Premier League, Perkins has scored 19 goals and assisted in giving in 53 matches. This youngster is a star and has impressive results. He will now look to continue his promising career.
