Description

We are a football club with a desire to be the best and are always looking for talented people to join our Everton Family.

Everton is a workplace people crave to join, where extraordinary talented people belong, thrive and deliver the remarkable.

Senior Lead - Technology Governance and Data Protection Officer

Who are we: Everton Football Club is one of world sport's most respected and revered names - a by-word for innovation and professionalism during the course of a glittering history that spans three centuries.

One of the 12 founder members of the Football League, Everton has played more games in English football's top flight than any other club.

While rightly proud of our rich past, and Goodison Park, our home of more than 130 years, we are now setting our sights on an exciting future at a state-of-the-art new stadium currently being constructed on the banks of the iconic River Mersey.

In doing so, we remain committed to developing and supporting teams across our men’s, women’s and Academy set-ups that inspire and compete at the highest level of the game.

Our values underpin how we behave, how we represent our club in our city and across the world of football, and how we look after one another and our community. They provide a framework for how we work and engage with partners, suppliers and, most importantly, our fans.

About the opportunity: As we embark on our final season at Goodison Park and enter a new chapter in our history, we have an exciting role for an experienced GDPR professional to join our Technology team as a Senior Lead - Technology Governance and Data Protection Officer and take ownership of data protection across the Everton Family, which not only includes Club but also Everton in the Community and Everton Free School, Women’s Football and Lotteries.

Reporting into the Director of Technology, you’ll help manage any potentially sensitive information, conduct regular internal security audits and serve as the main point of contact between the Club and data protection authorities.

You’ll monitor internal compliance, inform and advise on the Clubs data protection obligations, provide advice regarding Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and act as a point of contact for data subjects and the ICO.

Providing expert advice to colleagues across the business on important data compliance requirements, you will identify and evaluate the data processing activities, draft new and amend existing data protection policies and procedures, and ensure we have a privacy governance framework to manage data use in compliance with GDPR.

Who we are looking for: We are searching for a someone who has demonstrable experience in data protection compliance and an expert knowledge of data protection laws and practices, including a deep understanding of GDPR. Any previous experience of data processing operations in the sporting sector would be advantageous but certainly not essential.

Interpersonal and influencing skills are essential and being able to inspire and drive delivery across a wide range of areas.

This really is a great opportunity to work alongside great colleagues, where we put our people and our fans at the heart of everything we do.

This position is on a permanent contract working 35 hours per week.

The location for this role is within our Club’s iconic headquarters in the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, with the opportunity to work flexibly with our Hybrid working approach.
