Barcelona Interested in Tottenham Flop

Barcelona is planning a surprise move to ex-Tottenham defender Juan Foyth.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo deportivo Claudio Curti was seen leaving Barcelona’s training grounds after a meeting with Mateu Alemany, Barca’s sporting director.

Foyth has been a familiar face for Spurs fans since he joined in 2017 and spent four years at the club.

The defender played 32 games for the club during that period, before being permitted to leave on a loan deal for Spanish side Villarreal that became permanent in 2021.

Foyth has been a great success for the Spanish side since then.

The versatile defender who plays primarily at right-back and centre-back for Unai Emery’s side featured 39 times last term, including 10 appearances during the Champions League.

After a remarkable performance against Liverpool last term’s Champions League semifinal tie, it was his performance at right back that attracted Barcelona’s attention.

Emery could make a handsome profit after Villarreal only paid PS15million for him last summer. Foyth has a £35 million release clause.
