About

I began playing sport at 2. I am both independent and determined to learn and problem solve for myself (since I was homeschooled and self taught) but I am also a team player since I was a football athlete at U-9, U10, and U-15 and was scouted by Watford F.C. and Q.P.R. F.C. at the age of 10 years old and this experience as a child athlete enabled me to also have the ability to grow chemistry and camaraderie with others as part of a team.

I left school at 13 to focus on becoming a professional Tennis Athlete travelling across the UK to train at various academies and to Barcelona. Since that time I have taught myself GCSEs and A Levels, I am qualified as a certified strength and conditioning coach with the NSCA and I have two Sports Science degrees, including a qualification in Talent Identification (BSc Level 5); the biopsychosocial model crystalised the ‘Nature’ side of the equation for me.

In short, I was identified as an emerging talent, I am now athlete AND coach AND sport scientist. I know the how the biomechanics feel, therefore I know how they should look on the field; I know how the psychological highs and lows of a match feel, therefore I know how to read them in a young player’s body language; and I know what having a bad day feels like, so I know how to nurture and support a player’s emotional well-being.

In addition, thanks to my analytical nature and life-long love of football, I can see players thinking and responding to the flow of a match: the cognitive visual awareness and coordination, the advanced motor control, the non-dominant side capability, the speed of environmental analysis, the positional awareness and the consequent decision-making; the makings of great players.

As a 13 year old (when I started pursuing a career in tennis) the ongoing journey to understand how to effectively play my sport from a physiological, biomechanical, emotional and psychological perspective, and bring all those aspects together, helped me to realize the level of dedication, discipline and work ethic required to succeed. This gave me a far greater appreciation of the lengths to which other athletes go, to achieve success and reach lifetime sporting goals. It was this interest, passion, and love for sport and the life lessons it teaches that led me to study sport sciences and help me realize that I have skills and potential still to tap into and hone, and that I always have room to develop as an athlete, as an intellectual, and as a man. Accountability, determination, discipline, and work ethic have always been the attributes that I live my life by, and they have always pushed me further as my entire life has been embedded in the sporting environment which helps a young boy understand the concepts of teamwork, sacrifice, and humility to achieve the trophy, championship, record, or goal.

Qualifications

M
MSc Sports & Exercise Science (Pathways in Physiology)

University of Roehampton

Fully experienced learning how to calibrate and use lab equipment and gas exchange analysis software for exercise physiology and testing (Cortex Metalyzer software, VO2 Max and VO2 Peak testing, Anaerobic threshold etc.). Using these skills I have learned from the advanced lab skills course on this degree, helped me to be the sole creator and principal investigator to design my own research project and testing protocol for my MSc research which involved one of the first crossover research design projects: The Effects of Molecular Hydrogen Supplementation on Anaerobic Exercise Power/Capacity. This research project is one of the first of its kind conducted concerning the effects of hydrogen supplementation via an enriched solution on repeated Wingate exercise performance. My passion and drive for sports initiated my interest in this research proposal and it allowed me to apply the laboratory skills I learned to help athletes enhance their performance from a physiological perspective.

B
BSc Sports & Exercise Science

Oxford Brookes University

As sports, fitness and the desire to be an athlete has been the only thing I have ever dreamed of being, the journey to becoming a professional tennis player at 13 years old gave me the desire to increase my athletic knowledge and increase my knowledge in the area of physiology, kinesiology and sports psychology to become the best all rounded athlete I can be, an one day help others to do the same that share the same passion as me. Oxford Brookes University helped me achieve this goal with this degree in Sports and Exercise Science, as I studied the physiology aspect, sports psychology aspect, strength and conditioning, and the nutritional aspect to understand that enhancing those areas brings one close to achieving holistic all-rounded athletic prowess. I have knowledge in all these areas to hopefully be an effective person in the athlete development and sports medicine field
