Description

Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is an English Premier League Club, based in North London.

Led by the late great Bill Nicholson, the Club became the first in England to win the League and FA Cup Double in 1961, and the first in the UK to win a European Trophy two years later. Spurs has since been home to some of the game’s great entertainers, including Jimmy Greaves, Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola, Gareth Bale, Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.

In April 2019, the Club opened an iconic new stadium that sits at the heart of a £1billion sport-led regeneration of North Tottenham. The stadium is the largest football club stadium in London and is a multi-use venue with the ability to host a variety of events 365 days a year, including NFL, boxing, rugby, concerts, and other major events, plus visitor attractions including Stadium Tours and the Dare Skywalk.

The stadium development scheme has to date created more than 4,000 new jobs for local people, with circa £300m pumped into the local economy each year.

The Club is seeking a Women’s Technical Director to take ownership of the direction and development of players and their coaches.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Build competitive team of players and managers whose football skills fit the Club's sporting culture.

  • Develop a sustainable football model and sporting identity over a multi-year period that looks after the medium to long term Interests of the Club       


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a sustainable football model and sporting identity for Women’s Football over a multi-year period

  • Strategically lead recruitment in identification and assessment of prospective playing talent for all areas of the football club (Women's first team and Academy Teams)

  • Deliver relevant information on target players for consideration of the Women’s Football Board

  • Establish a communication strategy with the coaches to provide advice and support on coaching matters. Provide coaches with assessments covering training and game day activities

  • During pre-season engage coaching teams and outline strategic framework/club requirements

  • Work with the relevant Head/ Head of Methodology in the development and implementation of coaching standards, roles and responsibilities, and professional support and development pathways to coaching and playing groups

  • Support the clubs’ coaches and managers of all Women’s teams to develop and implement a football development plan and playing model for all age groups

  • In conjunction with the coaches oversee the selection of respective teams or squads

  • Operate as a key contact for agents and other clubs globally

  • Oversee and ensure an effective national and international recruitment network

  • Ensure regular and effective dialogue exists between the analysis department bringing together objective and subjective data

  • Ensure the player recruitment process and reporting protocols are Implemented and adhered to

  • Oversee the assessment of existing player recruitment with regular performance reviews and appropriate KPI's

  • Oversee the release of Academy players ensuring that the Club/PL/FA guidelines and protocols are followed.

  • Ensure complete market coverage.

  • Work closely with the Women’s Managing Director, Chief Football Officer and relevant staff and Board regarding player transfers and acquisitions

  • Provide operational dashboards for all departments that the Chief Football Officer can use in meetings.

  • Ensure 'best value' is achieved in the identification of and negotiations for incoming player transfers

  • Manage the department budget and provide regular updates to the Chief Football Officer

  • Liaise with external governing bodies and leading clubs to ensure that we remain aware and at the forefront of best practice operationally.

  • Enable successful induction and integration of all relevant coaching staff and players with appropriate off-field support and care.

  • Ensure close working relationships with wider club stake holders; Legal, Football Administration

  • Manage relations with sport media

  • Travel as and when require


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experienced as a sporting director/technical director within a top-level European Women’s League

  • Experience of embedding an unambiguous and well-implemented philosophy

  • Proven ability to work at a senior level with senior executives within the club

  • Skilled in performance analysis and experienced in making evidence-based player assessments and decisions

  • An excellent understanding of the UK, European and International player markets and a good network of contacts

  • Clear understanding of the governance and legislative framework in relation to domestic and International player transactions

  • A detailed understanding of player registration issues and processes, scholarship agreements and player contracts

  • Confident in complex negotiations with proven experience

  • Operates with professionalism and Integrity and values align with the Club's values

  • Able to implement new ideas to improve and evolve systems currently in place

  • Prior experience managing, developing and motivating people

  • Proven ability to build close relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver solutions

  • Demonstrable experience communicating, counselling and influencing challenging and sensitive issues.

  • Established reputation as a self-starter with a strong “can do” attitude, prepared to get things done and manage teams effectively

  • Experienced operating at senior management levels to drive change and embed working methods.
