Description

Job title: Women’s Media Officer

Department: Blackburn Rovers Women Football Club

Based at: Ewood Park stadium, Blackburn, BB2 4JF. Regular travel to Blackburn Rovers Academy, Brockhall Village, Blackburn, BB6 8BA is expected for the performance of duties. Flexibility regarding location is required.

Reports to: Head of Women’s Football

Responsible for: N/A

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week including match days and any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties to be worked on days and at times agreed with your head of department. This will include evening and weekend work.

Contractual status: Permanent

Job purpose: To raise the profile of Blackburn Rovers Women FC and provide regular information about the Club using the most frequently used forms of media to generate a continued growing audience.

Duties and responsibilities:
 To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all elite players, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries;
 To work collaboratively with the Women’s Commercial and Marketing
Manager to maximise success;
 To implement a media strategy for Blackburn Rovers Women that encompasses the overall club strategy, with a focus on growing our reach and audience;
 To align Media strategy and objectives with Commercial objectives, ensuring that commercial growth underpins what we do;
 To aid the development of Commercial and Media decks;
 To be involved in creating and implementing activations for events, partnerships and commercial activity;
 To manage and monitor social media channels;
 To keep abreast of updates within the field with a proactive approach to analyzing how we can implement and utilise different platforms and tools to our advantage;
 To liaise with the club Marketing, PR and Commercial teams to align, and capitalize on all opportunities.
 To attend and report on matches;
 To prepare, conduct, edit and publish pre/post-match and training content;
 To provide copies for rovers.co.uk and external media outlets (post-match reports, interviews, releases);
 To create engaging content to attract/retain audiences;
 To edit videos and imagery to tell the story of Blackburn Rovers Women to our fans and wider audiences;
 To promote match day entertainment/activities on relevant social media platforms;
 To coordinate media volunteers or freelancers when required;
 To liaise with relevant parties in the creation, editing and publishing of content;
 Support the Head of Marketing with capturing imagery and photography for Club marketing campaigns including, but not exclusive to retail, hospitality, ticketing, memberships and commercial departments;
 Liaise with the marketing and media departments to create visuals and graphics to be used across the Club’s social media, website and marketing campaigns;
 Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to develop the Club brand and individual team and departmental identities within the Club;
 Attend club events to capture content when required;
 Seek feedback from others, and reflect on personal behaviour and performance to identify areas for improvement;
 Create and maintain a personalised Development Action Plan (DAP), taking input and feedback from a variety of sources;
 Attend CPD events and undertake CPD activities in line with identified development themes;
 Be aware of current research and insight to support the business and your work; and
 To form a positive working relationship with internal and external stakeholders, learning about the club and its philosophy and implementing this in to the Women’s department.

Knowledge required:
 Knowledge of Safeguarding/child protection policies and procedures;
 Knowledge of the Women’s Professional Game;
 Knowledge of Professional Game Academies and Emerging Talent Centers;
 Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads);
 Experience of working in a football environment; and
 Knowledge of photoshop and video editors.

Qualifications required:
 A degree or equivalent in Media/Sports Journalism/Marketing or relevant field (essential);
 FA Safeguarding; and
 Previous industry experience within a communication/press department (desirable).
