About The Role

To assist the Professional Women’s Academy Coach and Academy Manager in the preparation and development of the Women’s Under 21 Academy squad to enable them to progress successfully to the Women’s First Team.

Key Responsibilities

PGA Team:

  • assist the Women’s Academy Head Coach in the delivery of coaching sessions to the Women’s Under 21 Academy Team;

  • assist the Women’s Academy Head Coach in the planning and preparation of any training sessions and matches as appropriate;

  • attend all Women’s Academy Training Sessions and Matches;

  • prepare and keep records of players’ attendance;

  • in association with the Women’s Academy Head Coach, Women’s Academy Manager prepare targeted player lists and relevant documentation;

  • prepare detailed reports/analysis (in association with the Women’s Academy Head Coach) for the General Manager in relation to player performance (individual and group)

  • to attend regular meetings with the General Manager and/or Academy Manager as appropriate;

  • Matchday and Training Session Warmups for both outfield players and Goalkeepers

  • Leading on goalkeeper Individual Development Programmes

  • Implement the club goalkeeping syllabus

  • Carry out analysis on both team and opposition goalkeepers and reviewing performance

  • undertake not to bring the FA, League or the Club into disrepute and undertake not knowingly to do anything or omit to do anything which will cause the Club to be in breach of the Laws of the Game, the Rules of the Football Association;

  • adherence to the Code of Conduct for coaches as per FA Rules and any such rules of the Club.

  • ensure that players’ personal circumstances are not discussed with any person other than the Women’s Academy Head Coach, Academy Manager and General Manager.Additionally, the HR Department and Safeguarding Manager should be notified of any welfare issues in order to provide support and guidance.

  • ensure that you do not discuss players or their performance whilst in the presence of others who may have a vested interest

  • ensure that player discipline procedures are handled professionally and in line with the FA and Sunderland AFC’s / Women’s Football policies and procedures, seeking support and guidance from the General Manager and HR Department.


About The Candidate

  • UEFA B Licence or evidence of working towards

  • FA Safeguarding Training

  • FA First Aid

  • Appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

  • Must undertake Continuous Professional Development as organised by the Club or League governing bodies

  • Candidates must hold a FA Goalkeeping Level 2 Licence or evidence of working towards

  • FA Safeguarding Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS Check

  • Willingness to work across other areas of the team to support the wider programme

  • Communication Skills

  • ICT Skills including Microsoft office

  • Knowledge of data analysis systems


Desirable

  • Experience of working with female players

  • Experience of the FA Professional Game Academy, Barclays Women’s Championship or Barclays Women’s Super League

  • Clean UK Driving Licence

  • FA Goalkeeping Coach A Licence

  • Working with adult goalkeepers

  • UEFA A Outfield Coaching qualification
